Livre - KMT: in the house of life - Ayi Kwei Armah, 2002

Un livre à lire,relire et à méditer.

"The work we hope to do is not about praising power. It's not about hierarchies. it's about our people finding itself again, and dumping the trash of king and castes and hierarchies and priests, the garbage of chosen peoples and superior races" P.135

"Our offering to you is a narrative
of the creation of knowledge,
of its confiscation by men of greed and violence,
and of the defeat of women and men
whose dream was to work
to make knowledge abundant as air.
Since their defeat, destroyers have danced
on the ruins of the house of life
thinking Maât lay buried there,
never to rise again."P348

"They lived in a world where strong men decided they could move faster if they threw away considerations of right and wrong.
....
Among the companions, at least before some went to the palace, there was no tradition of men rulers, women as servants or toys. It was Jehwty and Maât, Maât and Jewty. The rule of injustice requires one supreme god. A man. A bully of a man disguised as spirit. The companions were about justice, balance."P.344

"As the words came together, and as meaning flowed from their union, I felt the message reach me as a calm and direct call, soul to soul, across ages and spaces. Translating, I read the words over and over, and did not feel my tiredness, until the finished sheet dropped from my numb fingers, and I rose to go to bed, still astounded at the words:

Traveler spirit, you have found the sign as key.
If thinking Maât, you do Maât,
and doing Maât, you live Maât,
you too, working in the recurring time of Kheper
will recreate in love the circle shattered in violence.
Welcome, then, to our knowledge of beginnings

"Hor asked questions a child under that kind of training learned not to ask.
Why do we do things just this way? What happened a hundred years ago? Why are some people nobles? Where were we a thousand years ago?
Court traditionalist are comfortable with children who don't ask such questions. They love children eager only to use their intelligence to learn what their grandparents did, and their grandparents before them, and to repeat that and call it tradition. Hor had a habit of asking about something if he thought it made sense. Sometimes he suggested something that would make more sense. A time came when the trainers of court traditionalists saw him as a problem. He himself was ready for a change. He was sent here."

"to another town of traditionalists."

"A different town. This place was founded by traditionalists, and we have remained a town of traditionalists. But our founders were traditionalists who refused to live at the royal court. Theirs was a sort of quite quarrel."

"With royalty?"

"About royal power. Traditionalists at the court keep saying that royal power works for all people. Whether they believe it or not, that's what they're trained to say. Here we say something different. Royal power starts with the division of people into nobles and commoners, and division is a seed of troubles. At its most rotten, royal power turns people into slaves. So the traditionalists of Yarw are known to have raised these questions about royalty. Could there not be a different kind of power, with no slaves, no commoners, no royals, only people thinking and working together?" "P. 147

Two Thousand Seasons - Ayi Kwei Armah

Message par Hwenusu » mars 10, 17 1:41 am

Le livre mythique d'Ayi Kwei Armah, Two Thousand Seasons

...on ne le présente plus !lol!

"A people losing sight of origins are dead. A people deaf to purposes are lost. Under fertile rain, in scorching sunshine there is no difference: their bodies are mere corpses, awaiting final burial."P.XV

"In this present season the flow is so powerful in the direction of deaths. It has been so long, even since before Anoa spoke her prophecy of a thousand seasons and another thousand seasons wasted wandering amazed along alien roads, another thousand spent finding paths to the living way.

The reign of the destroyers has been long. It will be longer.
....
Remember this: against all that destruction some yet remained among us unforgetful of origins, dreaming secret dreams, seeing secret visions, hearing secret voices of our purpose
."

Clin d'oeil à Akeulette, you are not alone!!!

"One

The way

We are not a people of yesterday. Do they ask how many single seasons we have flowed from our beginnings till now? We shall point them to the proper beginning of their counting. On a clear night when the light of the moon has blighted the ancient woman and her seven children, on such a night tell them to go alone into the world. There, have them count first the one, then the seven, and after the seven all the other stars visible to their eyes alone.
After that beginning they will be ready for the sand. Let them seek the sealine. They will not have to ponder where to start. Have them count the sand. Let them count it grain from single grain.
And after they have reached the end of that counting we shall not ask them to number the raindrops in the ocean. But with the wisdom of the aftermath have them ask us again how many seasons have flowed by since our people were unborn.
The air everywhere around is poisoned with truncated tales of our origins. That is also part of the wreckage of our people. "P.21

""Change, or we will kill you," the first white predators, those from the desert, had said. "Believe in our road; abandon your way. Forget your ancestors; forget your posterity. Forget who your people are; forget your very selves and we will let your bodies live."
Yes, we were told to kill our soul so our bodies might live. Into these forsaken bodies alien, fictitious souls were to be poured to do the bidding, do the work of others."P.146

The Healers - Ayi Kwei Armah

Message par Hwenusu » mars 10, 17 11:49 pm

https://www.abibitumikasa.com/forums/sh ... Kwei-Armah

"The healer devotes himself to inspiration. He also lives against manipulation... Its a disease, a popular one. If I'm not spiritually blind, I see your spirit. I speak to it if I want to invite you to do something with me. If you spirit agrees it moves your body and your body acts. That's inspiration. But if I'm blind to your spirit I see only your body. Then if I want you to do something for me I force or trick your body into doing it even against your spirit's direction. That's manipulation. Manipulation steals a person's body from his spirit, cuts the body off from its own spirit's direction. The healer is a life-long enemy of all manipulation. The healers method is inspiration."

"Those who learn to read the signs around them and to hear the language of the universe reach a kind of knowledge healers call the shadow. The shadow, because that kind of knowledge follows you everywhere. When you find it, it is not difficult at all. It says there are two forces, unity and division. The first creates. The second destroys; its a disease, disintegration."

"A people can be diseased the same way. Those who need naturally to be together but are not, are they not a people sicker than the individual body disintegrated from its soul? Sometimes a whole people needs healing work. Not a tribe, not a nation. Tribes and nations are just signs that the whole is diseased. The healing work that cures a whole people is the highest work, far higher than the cure of single individuals."

"Prologue

Springwater flowing to the desert, where you flow there is no regeneration. the desert takes. The desert knows no giving. To the giving water of your flowing it is not in the nature of the desert to return anything but destruction. Springwater flowing to the desert, your future is extinction.

Hau, people headed after the setting sun, in that direction even the possibility of regeneration is dead. There the devotees of death take life, consume it, exhaust every living thing. Then they move on, forever seeking newer boundaries. Wherever there are living remnants undestroyed, there lies more work for them. Whatever would direct itself after the setting sun, an ashen death lies in wait for it. Whichever people make the falling fire their aim, a pale extinction awaits them among the destroyers.

Woe the headwater needing to give, giving only to floodwater flowing desertward. Woe the link from spring to stream. Woe the link receiving springwater only to pass it on in a stream flowing to waste, seeking extinction.
You hearers, seers, imaginers, thinkers, rememberers, you prophets called to communicate truths of the living way to a people fascinated unto death, you called to link memory with forelistening, to join the uncountable seasons of our flowing to unkonwn tomorrows even more numerous, communicators doomed to pass on truths of our origins to a people rushing deathward, grown contemptuous in our ignorance of our source, prejudiced against our own survival, how shall your utterance be heard?
